What information should I include on a rent receipt?

There’s a lot you’ll want to include on your rent receipt template. This info is important for your tenants’ records and your own.

The receipt should include:

  • Your contact information.
  • Name of the tenant who made the payment.
  • The total amount paid.
  • The rental property location.
  • The rental period covered by the payment.
  • The payment method (cash, check, e-transfer).
  • The date payment was received.

All of this information is necessary for your records. You can keep track of which tenants have fully paid rent, make sure they pay on time every month, and check to see if there are any tenants who still need to pay. If needed, add a section to show any late payments or other fees paid by your tenants so you can also keep track of them.

The more you include on the rent receipt, the easier it is for you to track everything. You can keep printed or digital copies of the receipts for as long as needed for your financial or personal records.

How can I make a rent receipt look good?
